This is where it all began! My love for travel started after visiting Hong Kong. It was my second visited country outside the Philippines (my home country). My first was in Romania and I traveled there for work and it’s a whole different story. 😆

Hong Kong is home to a lot of Michelin star restaurants thus renowned as the culinary capital of Asia. Make sure to try local dim sum, dumplings, noodles, peking duck and other local delicacies!
Shopper’s Paradise.
Hong Kong is also known as shopper’s paradise and it offers a unique shopping experience! You can find everything from boutiques to traditional stores, luxury shopping malls, and even score the best deals for electronic goods. In fact, we bought our Sony RX100 Mark V (camera used in the video) and just requested for International warranty instead of Hong Kong-only warranty so we can send it for repair in service centers back home. (This camera model was not yet available in the Philippines back then so we opt to buy during our stay in Hong Kong. We saved around 30% off the actual retail price in the Philippines plus a lot of freebies included)
Breath-Taking Sights!
One word to sum up our first time Hong Kong experience, breath-taking! We were in Hong Kong for a 7D6N stay (well technically just 6 days, the other day we were in Macau) and every day is filled with adventure and exciting new experiences. For the meantime these are the best places and experiences you shouldn’t miss when you visit Hong Kong:
- Sightseeing in Victoria Harbour’s Skyline! One of the best view is located in the Avenue of Stars during night time (Promenade with handprints & plaques honoring Hong Kong film stars, plus a Bruce Lee statue)
- You may also do a Night Cruise and have your dinner while sightseeing!
- Hong Kong Disneyland the happiest place on earth (if you don’t mind the crowd 😆 )!
- Ocean Park Hong Kong is a must! We honestly enjoyed it more than Disneyland specially if you are more of a nature person. Don’t miss riding the Ocean Park Tower in The Summit and Cable Car for breath-taking views! If you’re looking for the best restaurant, try the Bayview Restaurant in The Summit for a spectacular 360 view!
- Ride the Peak Tram going to Victoria Peak! Enjoy the Harbour View from the Viewing Terrace or have an intimate lunch or dinner with your family or loved one, there are lots of restaurants to choose from! We had dinner at the Peak Lookout and this place was so romantic 🧡
- If you have the time, try to walk through the Peak Trails! I highly recommend you spend the entire day just for Victoria Peak and just appreciate nature. There are also some great views in the trail less the crowd!
- Ride the Cable Car going to Ngong Ping Village! One of the best place we’ve been to in Hong Kong. So peaceful and serene! You also need an entire day if you want to make the most of this experience.
- Visit the Po Lin Monastery
- Go for a short walking trail going to the Wisdom Path
- Climb the stairs to the top of the Giant Buddha
- and lastly, take a bus going to Tai O Fishing Village!
- Note: Make sure to allot some time for your travel back to Ngong Ping Village and have your Cable Car tickets pre-purchased to avoid the long cable car queue
- Go shopping and try street foods in Mong Kok’s Night Market!

Travel Tips!
- We booked ahead of time all of our tickets and entry passes to save time. And yes we saved so much time booking in advance! We used Klook throughout our journey in Hong Kong and it’s super convenient.
- If you are coming from the Philippines it only takes 2 hours and 30 minutes flight time. To maximize your time, book a flight in the morning or early in the afternoon so you have time to roam around your first day!
- Buy an Octopus MTR Card (Mass Transit Railway)! It’s more convenient than buying single journey tickets every time you will ride the train.
- Make sure to check for any Octopus Card + Airport Express (2-way) tourist promo. They usually have this bundle and it’s much cheaper than buying separate! 🙂
- Get to know Hong Kong’s MTR system, get a map (if you don’t have WiFi or internet) or use Google Map app to check the trains you need to take to go to places.
- Plan your itinerary prior to your trip and research how you can go to places to save time!
- Hong Kong is generally safe for tourists and signs are everywhere
- If you plan to book an AirBnb or apartment, make sure to check carefully the location and the building. Book only if you are 100% comfortable with it. Most residential buildings in Hong Kong are too tight in space and buildings are usually older than shown in photos.
